‘Zombie gathering just falls short of record

Elaine Ezekiel News Editor

Thousands of local zombie enthusiasts painted their faces, dressed up as their deceased alias and spattered themselves with blood last Saturday night before heading to Arcadia Creek Festival Place downtown. They hoped to break the Guinness World Record for the largest ever gathering of zombies. Participants attempted to steal the title set two years ago by 4,093 participants who gathered in Asbury Park for the New Jersey Zombie Walk. Though the accounts of Saturday’s actual turnout vary, they all indicate that the Kalamazoo gathering fell short of the record by a little over 100 zombies. Hundreds of slightly dejected zombies streamed from the park and nursed their losses at local bars, but many opted to dance to a live band, Plastic Fantastic, that blared zombie-themed songs into the cold night.
