Student Commission Update

By Allison Tinsey, News Editor

The two executive boards – the outgoing and incoming – will be meeting with President Wilson-Oyelaran, Dean Westfall, and Brian Dietz on Wednesday and the Commission is will be asking questions concerned Residential Life, the alcohol policy, and student involvement in the dining contract process.

Vice President Tendai Mudiywa gave his thanks to the rest of the Commission for his time serving with them. He will be leaving to start an internship.

Bianca Rasho met with Brian Dietz and has already started work on things for next year including Homecoming. Darrin Camilleri for the Financial Policies Committee said there would be some money left in the budget due to some money not spent by student organizations. Student Commission Assembly Elections are on Thursday, May 17. The meeting ended with a discussion about how the conversation of “consent” is addressed through orientation and then through other programs throughout the year. There was a consensus that the information and conversations need to go deeper and will continue next year.

Next Friday, May 25 is Quadstock. Please, join StuComm for music, onion rings, and a rootbeer keg on the quad. They will also be handing out flavored ice pops during passing times in Red Square, so be on the look out for that.
