StuComm will be hosting a Community Reflection in the Chapel during common time this Friday. The theme of the reflection is Food for Thought, and they will be discussing the important role food plays on campus.
The Frelon directors argued for their budget request for food for the dancers during their six-hour-long dress rehearsal for the convenience of the dancers, but there was hesitation from the Financial Policy Committee because StuComm has a precedent of refusing money for student groups requesting food. After much discussion, the budget was approved and there will be food provided for the dancers at the rehearsal.
As a follow-up from last quarter, Alex Werder (K’15) discussed changing the consistency of the Kalamazoo College GPA, which is still in the works. The Information Services Committee is looking into getting better printing and copying equipment for the college. If there are grievances or significant needs for this equipment, please contact Brian Dietz.
The Commission voted to change the by-laws to include the requirement of one term served on the Commission to run as vice president. The Student Life Advisory Committee Secretary is also now required to have one term worth of experience in order to run. The vote for sophomore, junior, and senior commissioners for fall quarter will now be in late spring, and six first-years will be elected in the fall upon their arrival on campus.
As a reminder to encourage all students to attend the meetings, StuComm meets Mondays at 9:00 P.M. in the Olmsted Room.
